Amazon Echo Can Now Lock Kwikset SmartCode Locks

On Wednesday, March 1, 2017, Kwikset® announced that their Kwikset SmartCode™ 910, 912, 914 and 916 smart locks can now be locked using Amazon Echo devices and the Samsung SmartThings™ hub and skill or the Wink hub and skill. Owners can also query the skill to determine whether the lock is locked. There is currently no support for unlocking the lock via voice.

Amazon Echo Skill Commands

Along with controlling lights, thermostats and sensors using the SmartThings skill and the Wink Skill, users can control SmartCode locks with the following two commands:

“Alexa, is the front door locked?”

“Alexa, lock the front door.”

Kwikset SmartCode 910, 912, 914 and 916 Features

Pricing And Availability

The Kwikset SmartCode 910, 912, 914 and 916 smart Locks are available now with manufacturer’s suggested retail pricing from $199 to $229.

The Samsung SmartThings Hub is available immediately with a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $99.

The Wink Hub and Hub 2 are available immediately with manufacturer’s suggested retail pricing of $69 and $99 respectively.

The SmartThings Amazon Echo skill is available immediately and is free.

The Wink skill is available immediately and is free.
