Kodi Playlist Download
The British Invasion

by | Aug 24, 2015 | Playlist Downloads, Steve Cooper

This week's Kodi Playlist Download is “The British Invasion.” In early 1964, Capitol released the record album, “Meet the Beatles,” to the U.S. While it wasn't the first album The Beatles had recorded, it was the album and particularly the song, “I Want to Hold Your Hand,” that touched off the British Invasion of culture and music in the U.S.

Continuing through 1967, the U.S. went crazy for all things British – music, fashion and hair style. A lot of American teenagers wanted to wear the clothes, style their hair and listen to the same music the British did. If you want to see what this kind-of-sort-of over-the-top looked like check out the trailer for “Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery” at the end of this article. The movie parodies the 1960s and particularly the British Invasion.

I've tried to include every influential pop and rock British artist that was part of the British Invasion. It's just the way things go that I've probably missed one or two or included a somewhat fringe player. Still, if any of these artists are in your music library it should be a fun listen. It might be jarring hearing a soft pop tune followed by a harder rock song, but it should still be fun.

The second caveat I need to mention is that I had to deal within the limitations of Kodi playlists. There is no ability to do both an “and” and an “or” within the same playlist. So, I couldn't write the playlist such that it was limited to songs released from 1964 through 1967 AND by any of these British artists. Yes, I could have listed each song individually, but have pity on me and allow me this one cheat. You will get songs outside of the date range, but it really doesn't hurt the integrity of the list too much.

Today's playlist is 12,220 bytes in size and contains (almost) all of your British Invasion music in random order.

After downloading the .ZIP file, you need to do two things:

  1. Unzip the playlist into your Kodi music playlist folder — You can find specific information on playlist folders in this article: Kodi Playlist Folders
  2. Start Kodi (if it isn't already running) and navigate to the Playlist section of your music library, select this new playlist and enjoy

That's all there is to it. Follow the instructions listed above and quick as you can say, “Mersey Beat,” you'll have a new music playlist.

Note: If you just copy the .ZIP file into your playlist folder, Kodi will handle it just fine. It sees the zip file and adds it to your list of playlists. Clicking on the .ZIP file will open it up and present you with the contents. In the case of today's file: “The British Invasion.” Click on that and it works like any other playlist.

Today's playlist is “The British Invasion.”
