On Wednesday, May 11, 2016, Two new Denon X-Series AV receivers were announced. Both the AVR-X1300W and the AVR-X2300W are 7.2 channel, Dolby Atmos®, Full 4K Ultra HD network AV receivers that include built-in Wi-Fi® and Bluetooth® connectivity.

These two new Denon X-Series receivers come with the exclusive Denon® Setup Assistant. Room calibration with Audyssey MultEQ® XT automatic room acoustic measurement and correction system matches the installed speakers to the individual room’s acoustics. Audyssey Dynamic Volume offers real-time volume adjustment, while Audyssey Dynamic EQ improves a system's surround sound effects at low volume levels. Once set up, the new Denon 2016 AVR Remote Apps available on iOS, Android™ and Kindle Fire™ are used for daily control. Each receiver includes a smart ECO mode that can automatically save electrical power without influencing the overall performance.

The AVR-X1300W contains seven discrete amplifier channels at 80 watts per channel. Its advanced video section includes compatibility with the latest HDMI 2.0a and HDCP 2.2 specifications on all six HDMI inputs (five HDMI inputs on the back of the receiver, one on the front). It also supports full rate 4K Ultra HD video with 4K 60Hz video, 4:4:4 Pure Color sub-sampling, High Dynamic Range (HDR) and 21:9 video, 3D, and BT.2020 pass-through on every input.

Bluetooth capability for streaming music from a mobile device is built into the AVR-X1300W. For network connectivity, users can elect to use the built-in Wi-Fi for wireless connections or an RJ-45 Ethernet LAN port for wired connections. A front USB port on the receiver can be used to connect USB storage devices or to plug in a mobile device for music playback and charging at the same time.

The receiver has the ability to stream from sources including Apple AirPlay®, Internet Radio, Pandora®, Spotify Connect® and SiriusXM™ (Note that some sources require a subscription). Multiple high resolution audio file types can be played including FLAC, AIFF and DSD (up to 5.6MHz).

A firmware update that's scheduled for later in 2016 will bring DTS:X functionality. Also in a firmware update, users will be able to select between Dolby Surround and DTS Neural:X upmixers for 3D sound created from legacy Dolby and DTS sources.
