Onkyo Home Theater Systems Announced

On Monday, April 25, 2016, Onkyo announced two new home theater systems. The HT-S3800 is a 5.1 channel home theater system aimed at entry-level consumers. The HTS-7800 is a 5.1.2 channel network home theater system that is designed for consumers who want to update their current system to one with object-based surround sound and network features. Both of the Onkyo home theater systems will be available this month.

The HT-S3800 5.1 Channel Home Theater System

The Onkyo HT-S3800 offers 100 watts per channel in a compact receiver that includes analog amplifiers with discrete output circuitry. The new receiver supports 4K/60Hz video with High Dynamic Range (HDR) 4:4:4 color space. It follows the BT.2020 specification and comes with HDCP 2.2 copy protection.

Included are four HDMI® inputs and two composite inputs. Also included is built-in Bluetooth connectivity, DTS-HD Master Audio™ and Dolby® TrueHD. The receiver also comes with an AM/FM tuner and a full-sized remote controller.

The HT-S7800 5.1.2 Channel Home Theater System

The Onkyo HT-S7800 is a 5.1.2 channel Dolby Atmos™ home theater system that outputs 170 watts per channel. It's powered by discrete non-phase amps, a 384kHz/32-bit high-grade DAC and provides VLCS™ processing. The receiver supports 4K/60Hz video with High Dynamic Range (HDR) 4:4:4 color space, follows the BT.2020 specification and offers HDCP 2.2 copy protection. Also offered are 4K up-scaling from 1080p sources and up-conversion from analog sources via a single HDMI cable.

Eight HDMI inputs and two HDMI outputs are built into the receiver. Also included is built-in Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and AirPlay support. Any source, whether it's analog audio, sound sent via HDMI or streaming audio can be mirrored on compatible wireless speakers via FireConnect™ technology by Blackfire Research. A Dedicated Zone 2 DAC (for Network and digital sources) allows multi-room playback of different sources at the same time.

The Onkyo HT-S3800 has a suggested retail price of $499. The Onkyo HTS7800 has a suggested retail price of $999. Both of the Onkyo home theater systems will be available this month (May, 2016).
