On Monday, February 9, 2015, the OpenELEC team announced the release of version 5.0.2 of their Open Embedded Linux Entertainment Center. This new release is a feature release and successor to OpenELEC 4.2.

 

Notable Changes Included in OpenElec 5.0.2

  • Moving from XBMC 13 to Kodi 14.1 and the switch to Kodi branding
  • Moving from v3.16 to v3.17 of the Linux Kernel
  • Switching from OpenSSL to LibreSSL
