radiant and adorne Integration with Alexa Announced
On Thursday, June 22, 2017, Legrand announced that its radiant and adorne lighting control systems are now compatible with Amazon’s Alexa voice control system. radiant® is Legrand’s RF (radio frequency) Lighting system while adorne® is its Wi-Fi Ready Lighting system. Adding Amazon’s Alexa brings voice control to the already available choices of using a light switch, tablet, smartphone, or Apple Watch to control a home’s lights. In addition, the integration also includes the ability to organize multiple lights into a group that can be controlled with a single command.
Connecting radiant and adorne with Amazon’s Alexa
Samsung’s ARTIKTM Cloud, a Samsung ARTIK Cloud account, and Legrand’s LC7001 Whole House Lighting Controller are all required to integrate Alexa to radiant and adorne systems. Once an owner enables the Samsung ARTIK Cloud Optimized for Smart Home Alexa skill, instructions will be presented to complete the integration.
The Legrand LC7001 Whole House Lighting Controller gives the owner the ability to immediately dim or turn on and off the home’s lights. Additionally, schedules can be set up using the owner’s smartphone, tablet or Apple Watch. For example, vacation, evening, morning, and daylight schedules can all be set up.
Using radiant and adorne Lighting Control Systems with Alexa
Once everything is set up, the integration gives owners hands-free control to power on, power off, and dim radiant and adorne lighting control systems. Owners can use these systems and Amazon’s Alexa to power on and off lights by saying phrases like, “Alexa, turn on the kitchen light,” or “Alexa, turn off the hall light.” Dimming lights can be accomplished using phrases such as, “Alexa, dim the dining room lights 25 percent.”
