On Tuesday, March 22, 2016, the Yamaha RX-V381 AV Receiver was introduced. The new receiver is a 5.1 channel surround sound home theater receiver that offers full HD Audio format decoding, including Dolby® TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio™. Also included is built-in Bluetooth® with Compressed Music Enhancer for wireless music streaming from a phone or tablet.

The RX-V381 AV Receiver is the first in Yamaha's RX-V 81 Series of AV receives. It offers 4K Ultra HD video pass-through via HDMI 2.0 (4 HDMI in / 1 out) at 60 frames per second, 4:4:4, and is HDCP 2.2 compliant. It features high dynamic range (HDR) with BT.2020 compatibility. This gives better detail to dark and light image content and a wide spectrum of color for 4K video.

The new AV receiver comes with Yamaha's exclusive YPAO™ (Yamaha Parametric Acoustic Optimizer) automatic calibration system. The calibration system uses a microphone to listen to and analyze the sound of each speaker. It then tunes the sound system to create a listening experience tailored to the room.
